Frequently Asked Questions

General

Q: What can I do about my eyewear fogging up?

A: We have a few hints:

  • Do not overdress. Be warm, but not too warm. Exercise, skiing, or any movement generates heat and if sweat is forming on your forehead, your goggles fog up. Take off a few layers until you are comfortable.
  • Snow. If it is snowing and your goggles begin to fog, check to see if the snow has clogged the vents. If they are covered, the heat cannot escape so do your best to remove the snow.
  • If your goggles do fog, never wipe them clean. Doing this reduces its effectiveness. Anti-fog treated lenses will heal themselves given time.
  • Never clean your goggles with glass cleaner...that removes the anti-fog coating and only use anti-fog sprays or liquids on your goggles when the factory anti-fog coating has worn off or been removed.
  • For eyeglass wearers, try putting on the goggles before leaving the indoors since this will prevent the glasses from getting cold. If snow/water gets on your glasses/goggles, blot the water droplets dry with a soft cloth. Even remove them and set them foam side down on your leg so the moisture-laden air can dissipate and the no-fog coating absorb the remaining moisture.

Q: What countries do you accept orders from?

A: We can accept orders from the anywhere as long as PayPal will accept your payment.

Q: How many pairs of sunglasses should someone own?

A: How many pair of shoes do you own? Probably a few, at least - different pairs for different functions or style statements. Same rule for sun wear. Most people take part in a variety of activities and are exposed to different light conditions, requiring sun wear that meets the specific needs of each.

Q: What is quality sun wear?

A: Quality sun wear is that which meets your expectations for fashion, performance and protection. “Quality” also reflects durability, flexibility, comfort, quality of vision and the ability of the sun wear to retain a comfortable fit.

Q: What should I consider when selecting my sun wear?

A: You should consider both the frame and lens: Will they meet your needs and expectations? Does the sun wear provide the look and image you want to achieve? Does it have the performance features you need? Is the frame comfortable, lightweight, durable and flexible? If they are intended for high impact use, are the lenses appropriate? Is the color and darkness appropriate to enhancing your activity and comfort? Does it provide maximum UV protection? What types of enhancements are available to improve your performance and comfort: i.e. polarized, photochromic?

Q: How are quality and price related?

A: Quality sun wear products can be found at various price points and there are many factors that can affect the cost.

Q: Do darker lenses indicate more UV protection?

A: No, the amount of UV protection is not dependent on lens darkness. Lightly tinted lenses can easily block up to 100 percent UV. However, darker lenses can better protect night vision and may also provide greater comfort depending on the use and light sensitivity of the wearer.

Q: Should sunglasses be worn for driving?

A: Absolutely! Sunglasses are the favorite "necessary accessory" worn by drivers to reduce glare and improve visibility, according to the Sun glass Association of America. The right sunglasses can allow clearer, safer and more comfortable vision while commuting.

Randolph Engineering Specific Questions

Q. Are Randolph sunglasses UV protected?

A. Yes, all Randolph sunglasses offer UV protection.

UVA -  96.4% to 100% blocking depending on lens choice

UVB – 100% blocking for all lenses

Q. Can I order a frame only and have prescription lenses put it?

A. Yes, all Randolph frames (except Raptor/Avion) are suitable for prescription lenses. You may purchase the frame only and have your optician “edge” (shape) prescription lenses to fit your frame, or we can refer you to one of our Authorized Dealer Opticians for your Rx work. Note: Randolph does not directly provide prescription lens service at the present time.

Q. Will your Clip-On’s fit my current glasses?

Randolph Clip-On’s are made specifically for Randolph frames. They are designed for a custom fit and exact color match. Therefore, if you have a frame other than a Randolph, it is unlikely that you will have a satisfactory fit.  The US Military has begun issuing some frames made by US Safety (the 350, 801, & Elite styles).  Theses are the same size and shape as the Randolph Engineering styles and the clip-ons available at Aviator Shades Online will fit them also.

What does CE stand for?

The European Commission refers to the CE Marking of products as a "passport" which can allow a manufacturer to freely circulate their products within the European marketplace. The marking applies only to products regulated by the European Commissions health, safety and environmental protection legislation (product directives) but this is estimated to include more than 50% of the goods currently exported from the U.S. to Europe. All other consumer products are subject to the requirements of the General Product Safety Directive 92/59/EC, which does not require the CE-mark.

The actual CE Marking is the letters "CE" which a manufacturer affixes to certain products for access to the European market (consisting of 18 countries and also referred to as the European Economic Area or EEA). The letters "CE' are an abbreviation of a French phrase "Conformite Europeene". The marking indicates that the manufacturer has conformed with all the obligations required by the legislation. Initially, the phrase was "CE Mark": however, "CE Marking" was legislated as its replacement in 1993.

Certain Bobster eyewear either meets or exceeds these standards.
